For the extensive swimming sequences in the 1966 film Fantastic Voyage, Peter Foy devised theMulti-Point Balance Harness, with adjustable points of attachment that enabled the actors to effortlessly maintain any position in flight and created a new standard for performer and stunt harnesses still used today. This is one reason why film technicians often refer to any flying apparatus, regardless of its origin, as “the Foy rig”.
Other examples of Flying by Foy on film: Finding Neverland, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Hair, The Wiz, Death to Smoochy, Funny Girl, and Beverly Hills Ninja.
